Study Abroad and Financial Aid Eligibility

Financial Information for Felician University Short-Term Programs

Students participating in summer or winter Felician University programs are encouraged to apply for outside scholarships. However, there is the possibility of receiving up to a $1,000 grant through the Office of Study Abroad. The Director of Study Abroad can provide information on additional financial aid resources (See Financial Aid Resources and Scholarships below). Felician University students who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents may be able to receive financial aid (loans) to help finance Felician University short-term study abroad programs. Ask the Director of Study Abroad for a “Cost of Attendance” worksheet to determine what the overall cost is for the program in which you are interested. The Office of Financial Aid can also help you determine what you qualify for in terms of loans to help finance your Felician University short-term experience abroad.

Billing Procedures for Third Party Providers

After completing all paperwork for Felician University, and being admitted by the Third-Party Provider, students will be required to directly pay any initial deposits to the study abroad program. All subsequent bills should be sent to Felician University for payment. Felician will bill the student for the cost of the program plus an administrative fee of $100. This fee covers the services provided to students by the various offices at Felician University including, but not limited to, the Office of Study Abroad, Registrar’s Office, Bursar’s Office, and Financial Aid Office.

Financial Aid for Third-Party Providers

You might be surprised to learn that federal and state financial aid may be used on a semester study abroad program. Although institutional aid is not available, there are a number of other resources available to assist you in finding financial support (See Financial Aid Resources and Scholarships below) It will take some research, but other opportunities are out there.

Financial Information for Exchange Programs

Students who wish to participate in one of the designated Felician University “Exchange Programs” (please see Types of Study Abroad Programs) are permitted to use their Felician University academic scholarships to cover tuition costs during a semester or academic year exchange. In some cases athletic scholarships can be used as well. Two semester athletes cannot use their scholarships to study abroad on a semester or academic year exchange due to athletic commitments.

Students participating in an exchange program will pay the flat rate tuition, the comprehensive fee and the technology fee to Felician University for the designated time they are abroad (one semester or two semesters) and will pay all other costs (i.e. accommodations, fees, etc.) to the host institution. Federal and state financial aid may be used to cover the costs of an exchange program. In all cases, students must make an appointment to meet with the financial aid office to verify their financial aid packages.
