Master of Arts in Education – Educational Leadership

Phase I
  • 12 credit supervisor endorsement
    • Dedicated courses that satisfy the NJDOE requirement for curriculum and supervision support
    • Candidates who already possess a Master’s degree may apply directly to the NJDOE for their certification upon completion of Phase I (NJDOE requires 3 years of educational experience for issuance)
  • Evening and online classes
Phase II
  • Completion of 24 credits focused on the professional preparation of innovative and collaborative school leaders
    • Combination of coursework and internships required to satisfy NJDOE Principal endorsement
    • Opportunities for professional learning communities on focused area of study are available (special education, charter schools, religious education)
  • Implementation of evidence-based practices are emphasized
  • Individualized programs based on a candidate’s interest will be developed in conjunction with their program advisor
Admission Requirements
  • Completed application to the School of Education Graduate Programs and $40 application fee
  • Standard New Jersey Instructional Certificate (case by case evaluations will be conducted), and 5 years teaching experience are required for candidates seeking Principal endorsement
  • Graduation from an accredited baccalaureate program with a G.P.A. of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale (flexible)
  • Official transcripts of past collegiate work including post-baccalaureate work
  • Copy of current teaching certificates
  • Interview with Associate Dean and the Advanced Program Committee
