Master of Science: Family Nurse Practitioner in Primary Care (Online)

Expand your nursing career opportunities as a Family Nurse Practitioner providing primary health care to patients across the lifespan. Our online MSN Family Nurse Practitioner degree prepares nurses to become independent practitioners with advanced education and clinical competency who provide patient care in ambulatory and long-term care settings to improve the health of diverse populations. You will practice autonomously in collaboration with an inter-professional team to manage acute and chronic conditions and promote optimal health for this population.

Online Courses and Clinical Experiences

Complete the 40-credit program in about three years, which includes online courses and 650 clinical hours in four designated courses. Work under the guidance of doctoral prepared faculty and qualified clinical preceptors to provide care at designated clinical practicum sites that meet the program objectives. Program graduates are eligible to apply for national certification from the American Nurses’ Credentialing Center (ANCC) or the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP), State Board of Nursing licensure as an APN, and for admission to doctoral study.

Program Outcomes

Students who complete the MSN Family Nurse Practitioner degree leave the program with the skills needed to take on leadership roles in healthcare teams to improve patient-centered care, safety and quality improvements, and to act ethically in all aspects of the nursing practice.
