In completing this program’s clinical practice hours, you will have the opportunity to work under the guidance of doctoral prepared faculty and qualified clinical preceptors to provide care at designated clinical practicum sites. You’ll gain the real experience necessary to prepare you for working independently and in collaboration with other healthcare professionals to best improve the health of families and people across the lifespan.

The program is offered fully online with clinical practice completed in three designated courses. Work under the guidance of doctoral prepared faculty and qualified preceptors to provide care in designated clinical practicum sites that meet the program objectives. Program graduates are eligible to apply for national certification from the American Nurses’ Credentialing Center (ANCC) or the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP), State Board of Nursing licensure as an APN, and for admission to doctoral study. We also offer a Post Master’s Certificate in Adult-Gerontology Primary Care or Family Nurse Practitioner.

Admission Requirements

In addition to a completed application, the following are required:

  1. Bachelor of Science in Nursing from a program accredited by a national accreditation agency and approved by the Board of Nursing with a 3.0 or higher GPA.
  2. Official transcripts of past collegiate work including post-baccalaureate work.
  3. Licensure as a registered professional nurse in New Jersey or other state (consult with admissions for details).
  4. Two professional and/or academic references.
  5. A notarized copy of the photo page of a government-issued identification such as passport or driver’s license.
  6. Successful completion of undergraduate courses in:
    • Nursing Research
    • Statistics
    • Health Assessment
  7. Personal statement
For International Students
  1. A minimum score of 79 on the Internet-based TOEFL or 550 on the paper-based TOEFL is required of graduates of non-English speaking countries.
  2. International academic credentials are reviewed by an international accrediting agency (World Education Services) on an individual basis.
