The Learning Disabilities Teacher Consultants (LDTC) Post-master Endorsement Program

The Learning Disabilities Teacher Consultants (LDTC) endorsement program prepares teachers to work in collaboration with other members of a child study team in public schools to determine eligibility for special services. LDTCs also consult with parents, teachers, and other school personnel to provide research-based instructional strategies to assist pupils who are struggling academically. Applicants who have earned a master’s degree in education field (e.g., Special Education or Reading), and who hold a current standard or CEAS teaching certificate, and who have completed three years of successful teaching may apply to the Learning Disabilities Teacher Consultant (LDTC) certification program.

This program meets all State of New Jersey requirements for the LDTC certificate. This is a post-master certification.

Admission Requirements:

  • A master’s degree in education from an accredited college or university
  • Maintenance of a 3.0 GPA
  • A copy of standard or CEAS New Jersey teaching certificate
  • Verification of three years of successful full time teaching completed by an administrator or Human Resources personnel at your district

LDTC 500: The Impact of Neurological and Physiological Factors on Student Performance 3 cr
LDTC 501: Theory and Remediation Practices in Support of Individuals with Dyslexia 3cr
LDTC 502: Data Driven Decision Making & Collection for Learning Consultants
LDTC 503: Addressing the Needs and Diagnosis of Children with Learning Disabilities 3cr
LDTC 504: LDTC-Clinical Internship 3 cr
EDU 505: Educating all Populations 3cr
EDU 506: Motivating and Learning for students with and without disabilities 3 cr
EDU 630: Educ Planning or EDU 802 Basic Applied Behavior Analysis for Students with Autism Spectrum Disorders and other Developmental Disabilities 3cr.

Additional Elective Coursework Options to complete the Masters (15 credits):

To complete the graduate master’s program, each student will participate in 15 additional graduate credits in courses that are chosen together with the faculty advisor. The additional courses are chosen based on the student’s background and future goals of employment. These courses are taken within the School of Education.
