Biography

As a special educator, reading specialist, and an educational leader, Dr. Anderson has taught graduate and undergraduate-level courses for teacher preparation programs within Institutes of Higher Education since 2006. His consultation firm, UCAN, was founded in 2004 to promote greater utilization of classroom assessment networks and inclusive education. Chris believes education is the endeavor that strengthens a mind, frees a spirit, and enriches a society. Therefore, through his teaching and consultation, you are intentionally invited to embrace the holistic and interdependent conditions that promote the learning for all mission!

As a committed invitational leader, Chris believes in the power of volunteering and providing community and national service. As a member of the first AmeriCorps class (1994), he served as a team leader and academic tutor for the Chelsea-Elliot “I Have A Dream” program. Twenty-one years later he provided another year of national service through the inaugural NYC Service- Read More Corps program, which implemented the Literacy Trust’s Reading Rescue initiative within New York City Renewal Schools.

The Grand Canyon University doctoral program emphasized educational leadership to promote Effective Schools Research. A previous doctoral program at Boston University focused upon curriculum and teaching with an emphasis on literacy and developmental reading interventions. Post-graduate special studies at Harvard University examined school administration systems and adolescent development. Chris completed a graduate degree in applied psychology from New York University and a Bachelor of Science degree in special education from Baruch College-CUNY.
