Biography

Dr. Eloise Marks Stewart background in education spans from k-12 and has continued to higher education. Dr. Stewart has served as an administrator and special education teacher across various grade levels in school districts within multiple states. Before leaving k-12 education, Dr. Stewart began working as an adjunct professor at Fairleigh Dickinson University and later became an adjunct professor at Felician University teaching college writing and research. She serves as a clinical faculty advisor for doctoral students at Seton Hall University whereby she mentors’ candidates throughout their doctoral journey.

Dr. Stewart actively presents at workshops and publishes articles in teacher preparation textbooks and journals.  She has done extensive research in literacy and multi-sensory strategies for teaching all learners. Her dissertation was titled, “The Impact of Systematic Multisensory Phonics Design on the Decoding Skills of Struggling Readers.”  In 2010, she was selected as an “Outstanding Educator” by Kappa Delta Pi International Honor Society in Education. She was one out 14 educators selected for this national award. Dr. Stewart considers herself a life-long learner and values a love for learning by encouraging collaborative teaching practices and fostering strong working relationships. Her commitment to preparing today’s students for tomorrow’s educational leaders has been her key focus throughout her career.

In her spare time, Dr. Stewart enjoys traveling and writing. She is an active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Pi Theta Omega Chapter, where she participates in numerous activities that promote service to mankind. She has served on the executive board, and she also chairs and serves on various committees within her Chapter.

In 2021, Dr. Stewart joined the faculty at Felician University where she teaches courses in the School of Education. Dr. Stewart believes teaching at an institution of higher learning comes with an extraordinary fringe benefit. We have a chance to change people’s lives and that is a tremendous privilege.
