Boiler Operator – Maintenance Assistant

Felician University is presently seeking an industrious, experienced facilities professional to serve as a Boiler Operator-Maintenance Assistant. The Boiler Operator-Maintenance Assistant performs routine tasks in order to operate and maintain boilers steam engines, motors, generators, and other mechanical equipment to provide utilities for buildings of the Lodi Campus during the approximate six-month heating season. In conjunction with this, and for the remaining six-months, the additional scope of responsibilities for this position is to perform a variety of tasks in the maintenance and repair of the buildings and grounds at multiple sites of the University. These encompass but may not be limited to the areas of carpentry, electrical, plumbing, glazier, masonry, and painting.

Required Education:

High school diploma or GED required; Boiler License required.

Qualifications:

Knowledge of and demonstrated experience of Boiler operations, repair, maintenance and replacement in the areas of carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical, glass replacement, masonry, equipment repair and HVAC; ability to resolve critical vendor/employee maintenance issues; ability to perform a variety of physical tasks, including but not limited to: climbing ladders, bending, kneeling, reaching and standing for long periods of time, lifting and carrying boxes, tools, equipment and building materials; ability to maintain and utilize a variety of hand and power tools; knowledge of safety practices and procedures related to building and construction; good written and verbal communications skills; basic computer skills; possession of a valid New Jersey Driver’s License; willingness and ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions; willingness and ability to work overtime on an as needed basis; willing and flexibility to work split-shifts/off hours including weekend and evening hours; willingness and ability to support and promote the Felician Franciscan mission and values of the University.
