Breaking Barriers With the PATH Transition Program
In keeping with Felician’s values of community support, hands-on learning, and commitment to accessible education, the University partnered with REED Autism Services to offer the Path Transition Program.
The PATH Program supports people with autism in fostering learning, establishing friendships, building self-confidence, and working towards achieving their goals. It is a post-secondary, two-year, college-based certificate program approved by the New Jersey Department of Education. Designed to impart crucial career readiness and life skills for students ages 18-21, PATH blends dynamic classroom instruction with real-world application, emphasizing four key pillars: community engagement, employment, self-determination, and household/personal management. The program, which also includes work-based learning, equips students with the tools for meaningful employment and independent living.
Students enrolled at Felician University have the unique opportunity to engage in peer mentoring with PATH students by supporting and guiding them in engaging with the University community, practicing social skills, and helping them achieve their goals. This dually serves as an opportunity for Felician students to gain hands-on experience in leadership and explore a potential career path in education.
Felician is proud to partner with REED Autism Services to make an impact on campus and in the broader community. To learn more about this important partnership, click here.
