This program will prepare you for initial teacher licensure in the State of New Jersey in three specialized areas: Early Childhood, Teacher of Students with Disabilities, and Middle School. Enhance your marketability to school employers by learning how to build creative, modern, and inclusive learning environments suited to the varying ages, abilities, and backgrounds of New Jersey students. You’ll also learn teaching philosophies according to local, state, and national trends, as well as how to utilize culturally responsive practices.
We offer four Bachelor of Arts in Education licensure preparation programs:
- Early Childhood & Special Education (P-3/Teacher of Students with Disabilities)
- Elementary & Special Education (K-6/Teacher of Students with Disabilities)
- Elementary & Special Education (K-6/Teacher of Students with Disabilities) with Middle School Endorsement (5-8)
- Secondary Education (K-12) and Teacher of Students with Disabilities Endorsement
You will be able to increase your field of knowledge by choosing a co-major in one of the six following areas:
- Mathematics
- Biology
- Art
- Psychology (For P-3 & K-6 only)
You’ll be observing students in the classroom, developing lesson plans, and eventually, teaching the students yourself… starting in your first year. You’ll be placed in both general and special education settings, developing a caring understanding of how different individuals learn.
You can complete this program within four years through either a traditional, cohort, or working adult model in accordance with the New Jersey Department of Education guidelines.
