Bachelor’s in Exercise Sports Science
Felician University’s Bachelor’s in Exercise Sports Science program is ideal for students interested in studying subjects such as kinesiology, psychology, physiology, nutrition and strength and conditioning. Demand is growing for sports scientists and performance consultants as our society develops a greater awareness of health and fitness issues. Our Bachelor of Science program will produce graduates who are prepared for careers in this dynamic and modern industry. Students are able to pick from three tracks: Pre-Health Sciences, Strength and Conditioning, and Sports Management.
Mission:
The Strength and Conditioning track provides students seeking positions in the field of strength and conditioning the knowledge and skills necessary for safe and effective program design and implementation to enhance athletic development. Completion of the concentration will allow students to be eligible for and academically prepared to sit for the National Strength and Conditioning Associated (NSCA) Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) certification.
Learning outcomes:
Upon completion of the track, students should be able to:
- Demonstrate fundamental knowledge of physiological systems and nutrition underlying physical activity, exercise, and athletic performance.
- Demonstrate exercise testing and data acquisition skills, while using sound experimental and analytical practices.
- Incorporate and synthesize information related to exercise selection and order to create an effective training program.
- Utilize oral and written communication skills to summarize, critically evaluate, and discuss scientific evidence on key physical activity, exercise, and sport performance-related topics.
- Transfer knowledge and hands-on experience within the field of Strength and Conditioning into preparation for the Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) exam.
Graduation and retention rates of the Strength and Conditioning track will be available with the first graduating class.
CSCS exam success rate will be available with the first graduating class.
Felician’s Exercise Sports Science students gain the knowledge and understanding of the principles of biology, chemistry, and nutrition, as well as an advanced understanding of human anatomy and physiology as they relate to physical activity, exercise, health, and disease. Graduates become advocates for physically active lifestyles as a means to improve quality of life and reduce the risk and prevalence of lifestyle-related diseases.

In this program, you’ll develop knowledge in health, science, and exercise training, along with skills in problem-solving, communication, and teamwork. As an added benefit, Felician students participate in two internships in an area of their choice. Our location, less than 15 miles away from NYC, allows students to intern and work with major health and fitness-related businesses.
