Communications

Bachelor of Arts in Communications

In our fast-paced, media-driven world, employers are looking for effective communicators who can engage audiences. As society is overwhelmed by communications, students will learn to cut through the clutter, to become effective, creative, and ethical contributors to the contemporary media culture. Our courses blend communication theory, social media marketing, and creative media production.

Felician University’s award-winning radio station, WRFC, is a state-of-the-art facility where students will have the opportunity to design their own show, select music and discussion topics, and run the station’s digital radio equipment.

New York City is a global hub for the technology, media, and entertainment industries. Our proximity to New York City makes the department an ideal place to prepare for a career in communications, social media, and digital culture. You will learn from professionals with industry experience in the “media capital of the world.”

Communication majors select between the two following concentrations:

Digital Media & Culture Concentration

In the Digital Media & Culture (DMC) concentration, students will explore social issues of access and inclusivity with emerging technology such as artificial intelligence and social media. They will learn to create compelling content in multi-media formats such as writing, photography, video, and sound. Additionally, students will leave the program with a Hootsuite Social Media Marketing certificate. The DMC concentration will provide students with the skills they need to be thought leaders and practitioners in the digital media, technology, and entertainment industries.

  • Understand the importance of media and communication throughout history, recognizing the significant contributions from diverse cultures.
