Felician Marches in St. Patrick’s Day Parade

On Sunday, March 1st Felician participated in the 3rd Annual Rutherford St. Patrick’s Day Parade.

Felician University students, administrators, faculty, alumni, and staff joined hundreds of parade participants proudly wearing Felician green as they marched down Park Avenue. Frankie the Falcon was front and center giving out candy to folks along the parade route.

Marybeth O’Flanagan, Felician’s Associate Registrar, was honored at the parade as Member of the Year for the Rutherford Irish American Association (RIAA) and said, “The parade is a great day for the town of Rutherford and surrounding communities. I am thrilled that Felician continues to support the town and the RIAA.”

Felician takes an active part in the civic life of Rutherford most recently hosting an Emergency Services Thank You Reception at Iviswold Castle in honor of emergency services personal. Along the way Felician has sponsored a local hero event honoring Rutherford Firefighter Tyler Hanson, a Dr. Seuss reading event, and is an annual sponsor of the Labor Day Festival, as well as the summer concert series.

But at the St. Paddy’s Day Parade it was all about everyone having the spirit of the Irish, and many including Dr. Stephanie McGowan, Dean of the School of Education have the last name to prove it.

Of course, whatever your last name- on St. Patrick’s Day- everyone is Irish!
