NEW MOVE-IN PROCEDURES  7/29/2020

Dear Students,

We are looking forward to your return for the fall 2020 semester. As you are aware, COVID-19 has created many challenges for institutions of higher education. Felician University is no different; however, in the Franciscan tradition, we have confronted those challenges and are prepared for you to return this fall.

Below we provide information about this year’s move-in process. For those of you returning to Felician, you will recognize there are several differences in our move-in procedures from previous years. Your cooperation is essential to this process.

First, you can find your housing placements with your roommate’s and suitemates’ information in your Housing Self Service Portal. Please log in using this link:  https://felician.datacenter.adirondacksolutions.com/felician_thdss_prod/navigation/student/my-screen

Please note: We cannot accommodate any more requests for roommates or room changes.

Self – Quarantine

You may be aware Governor Murphy has put into effect a 14-day quarantine for those traveling to NJ from specific states, an up-to-date list can be found here.   In order to ensure the health of our community, we are asking that you quarantine if you are traveling from any state other than New York or Connecticut.  Please arrive on campus the morning of August 11 to begin your 14-day quarantine. If you are unable to arrive by the morning of August 11, you may need to make alternate arrangements when you arrive in NJ. Also, we ask New York and Connecticut students to quarantine at home for the 14-day period and complete a daily symptom checking process. This precaution is in the best interest of you, the student, due to the ever-changing conditions caused by COVID-19.

Move-in

This year, if you do not fall under the self-quarantine classification listed above, you will have two different Check-in options: 1) Drop and Go, and 2) Traditional Check-in. You can pick the option that works best for you and your family. These options will be in your self-service account starting July 27. Before making your selection, you need to sign your July Addendum and be both Financial Cleared and Health Cleared.

Drop and Go

If you choose the Drop and Go option, you will be able to sign up for a 30-minute slot to bring your belongings to campus. You will not be able to unpack at that time. Keys will not be distributed at that time. If you select Drop and Go, you must choose a time to arrive on August 25 to pick up your keys for the semester. To promote social distancing, we will limit the number of students permitted per time slot.

Dates: August 12 through 18, 2020

Time Slots: 3:00 PM – 8:00 PM

Please note: You are not permitted to return to campus until August 25.

Traditional Move-in (Kind Of)

If you choose this option, you will be able to move-in and stay on campus. You can pick an hour time slot beginning on August 20 through August 24. Appointment times will be limited.  You are only permitted to move belongings in during your time slot. If you need additional time, you may be able to return at 8:00 PM on the same day. This possibility is based upon availability.

Whether you choose to the Drop and Go or Traditional Move In option, the following will be in place:

  • You may only bring one (1) person with you to assist
  • Please bring only one vehicle to the unloading area
  • Masks must be worn anytime you are not in the privacy of your room
  • No carts or hand trucks will be provided (you may bring your own)
  • Your temperature will be taken when you enter the residence hall You cannot sign up for a time until you are both Health and Financially cleared.

Hotel/Ave

The dates for check-in will be August 24 & 25 for the hotel and August 25 for Ave. More information will be available soon.

Following the guidelines above will help make your move to campus smooth and safe. We are all here and are  looking forward to seeing you on campus soon!

Sincerely,

Ronald A. Gray, Ph.D.

Dear Students,

Housing Accommodations Have Changed

**Please read the entire message**

As you are aware, the situation with Coronavirus is continuously changing. As these changes in risk develop, Felician University must also adjust our plans. Please know the health and safety of our students, faculty, and staff are of paramount importance. Given the current situation in the State of New Jersey, students who live in housing (on-campus, off-campus at the AVE, and the Hotel) must return home or be authorized to remain on campus if they meet the criteria listed below.

The University settings present unique challenges during a pandemic because of the density of students living and studying in close quarters. We are focused on decreasing the potential health risk to the University community following the CDC guidelines, state and county guidelines, the Office of Emergency Management, and the World Health Organization (WHO).

We understand that, for a variety of reasons, some students cannot return home. We will authorize individual students to ensure they can remain on campus. Residence Life and Dining Services will continue to be available for those approved to remain in housing using the following criteria to guide decisions:

  • A student who faces housing insecurity (homelessness or a precarious living situation);
  • A student who faces financial insecurity;
  • A student previously certified “independent for the purposes of financial aid”;
  • An international student;
  • A student who is working on campus.;
  • A Resident Assistant (RA);
  • A Student whose home is beyond 150 miles from the University.

Other Policies that will be put in place:

  • The Guest Policy is suspended; no guest will be authorized to be in the residence halls at any time during this period;
  • Breaking any Residence Life or Student Conduct policy will result in immediate removal from the Residence Halls for the duration of this virtual learning experience;
  • No more than four people are permitted in any one room
  • Students are not permitted to visit between buildings;
  • 24 Hours Quiet Hours will be enforced.

Please understand the University will be closing many of our facilities to limit the spread of the virus for example the gymnasium, work out facilities, gaming room, and some dining areas.
Students who must remain in Felician University-provided housing during this time must register with the Office of Residence Life (ORL) by clicking here.
