Academic Advisor-Career Path

Felician University is presently seeking an innovative, dedicated, and student-centric academic support professional to serve as the Academic Advisor-Career Path (AACP) in the Center for Career and Academic Success.  The AACP provides guidance in the exploration of career options early on the academic path, supporting overall success, persistence, and retention of first-year, second-year, and special populations of students.  S/he collaborates with the academic schools in promoting academic planning aligned with the student’s major and program requirements through highly responsive, holistic advisement focused on individual student needs, helping students overcome barriers to success inside and outside the classroom.

Required Education:

Master’s degree in education or closely related field required, doctorate preferred

Qualifications:

2+  years’ of demonstrated professional experience in higher education student academic support services and academic advising, mentoring, and/or success coaching; comprehensive knowledge of college policies, procedures, practices, FERPA, Title IX, ADA, and other applicable laws pertaining to employment and education; willingness and ability to complete Academic Advisor Training; demonstrated experience working with minority students, at-risk students, and students from a variety of cultural/ethnic/religious backgrounds; well-developed computer and technological literacy  skills, with the willingness to work with new software and other technologies; innovative and collaborative spirit; superior interpersonal skills both in person and in varying media; attentiveness to detail, with superior organizational skills to ensure timely monitoring and response to varying student needs as they arise; willingness and ability to support and promote the Felician Franciscan mission and values of the University.
