RUTHERFORD, N.J. – The Felician University women’s lacrosse team has been voted the winner of that sport’s 2016 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Team Sportsmanship Award. The balloting was performed by the league’s 10 head coaches in consultation with their teams and released on Monday.

The CACC Team Sportsmanship Award is presented annually in each conference championship sport to the program, in the collective opinion of that sport’s coaches and student-athletes, which best exemplifies the spirit of competition, character and sportsmanship throughout the season.

Felician (0-11, 0-9), a first-year program, is coached by Angelica Gero of Freehold. A list of Golden Falcon team members is available at http://felicianathletics.com/sports/wlax/2015-16/roster.

“This award means so much to us,” Gero said. “We had a group not only of beginner lacrosse players, but in some cases beginner athletes, and they came together and had enough heart to get through the season. They constantly showed the way to use grace and composure to perform in tough situations.”

Women’s lacrosse is the second Felician sport to win the CACC Team Sportsmanship Award during the 2015-16 academic year. The Golden Falcon men’s soccer squad captured the honor in November.
