Teachers Pass edTPA Requirement for Licensure
RUTHERFORD, NJ – Felician University is thrilled to announce that 100% of teacher candidates who graduated in the 2020-2021 academic year from the School of Education has successfully passed the edTPA requirement for licensure as originally stated by the New Jersey Department of Education.
Dr. Stephanie McGowan, Dean of the School of Education, stated, “The Felician School of Education is committed to supporting our future teacher candidates in demonstrating their preparedness and excellence as they begin their careers in the classroom. We know that our students are poised to be life-changers in the field, and modeling compassion and support for their success is what we do better than anyone or anywhere else!”
Every candidate prepares for licensure in two subject areas – General Education and Special Education. All programs in the School of Education are nationally accredited and state-approved, containing coursework that fulfills the NJ Department of Education’s requirements.
The state of New Jersey requires licensure candidates to complete a performance-based, subject-specific assessment. The ability to plan, instruct, and assess are evaluated.
Felician’s School of Education is founded on a love for learning, and is driven by caring and qualified professionals who continue to devote themselves to education. Felician strives to advance careers through the knowledge needed to work in various and diverse settings in and outside of the classroom.
Felician University extends a big congratulations to all the future teachers and commends the faculty who provided support throughout their journey.
