Felician University Partners with NJ STEM Pathways Network
University Hosts Series of Weekend Cyber-Science Camps
Felician University announced a partnership with NJ STEM Pathways Network in connection with NJ STEM Month. Through the support of NJ Assemblyman Andrew Zwicker’s office, the month of March is designated as New Jersey STEM Month, to celebrate New Jersey’s commitment to excellence in science, technology, engineering, and math.
Felician will host two Cyber-Science Camps on Saturday March 24. The Cyber-Science Camps take place on Felician’s Lodi campus (262 South Main Street, Lodi, NJ 07644).
“We are thrilled to partner with NJ STEM Pathways Network and take part in NJ STEM month,” said George Abaunza, Ph.D., Dean of the School of Arts & Sciences at Felician University. “Our job as educators is to give students every opportunity possible – especially when it comes to a high-quality STEM education. We are grateful to make a difference in the lives of future STEM professionals.”
For the second consecutive year, AT&T has supported Felician’s Saturday Cyber-Science Camps, which offer high school students typically underrepresented in STEM fields the exposure to these areas. The camps are designed to engage students’ interests through explorations into educational and career opportunities, as well as hands-on laboratory experiences – guided by experts in their respective fields.
The weekend camp program includes two morning sessions on Saturday. The first session provides hands-on learning in computer science, followed by a cyber technologies and cyber-crime lab experience. The afternoon session includes a natural sciences laboratory experience and an end-of-day debriefing. Breakfast and lunch are provided, along with transportation to and from the Lodi campus.
The NJ STEM Pathways Network, a public-private strategic alliance, defines and guides a statewide STEM vision for pre-K-to-workforce formal and informal learning opportunities that strengthen academic skills and inspire students; facilitate research and recommendations on STEM talent pipeline needs and barriers to success; and exposes students to the many educational pathways, experiences, and professionals that can prepare them for STEM degree programs and careers in New Jersey.
