Felician Sees Another Year of Enrollment Growth Despite National Downward Trend

Now into week 3 of its Hyflex, Hybrid learning platform, with some students returning to on-campus face to face learning, Felician University is reporting its second straight year of enrollment growth. This year’s 13% increase in freshman enrollment, bucks a national downward trend caused by the COVID economy. According to Camille Braker-Balkum, Felician’s Director of Admissions, “Students and their families are recognizing the value of a Felician Franciscan education. We have seen tremendous growth and it is in part due to how we support our students in their pursuit of a quality liberal arts education.”

Felician welcomed a total of 2223 students through its doors in fall of 2019 and 2407 students entered through the “virtual” doorways this year. Braker-Balkum also points to her staff’s ability to quickly pivot their traditional services to virtual as part of the reason for the enrollment increase. “The university’s leadership imparted a clear vision of how we should continue to support our prospective students during this pandemic. We deployed a recruitment plan that involved us swiftly transitioning our in-person services along with student and family engagement activities to virtual. I am extremely proud of my staff and grateful to university leadership for recognizing the challenges we were about to be confronted with and therefore immediately responding to a plan of action.”
