Shifting the Power of Self-Doubt: Fashioning Confidence Through DOUBT4UL Apparel
Rutherford, NJ— The life of a college student is often fast-paced, with hours dedicated to studying class materials, juggling assignment deadlines, and learning to balance academics with everyday life. Pursuing a college degree can sometimes feel like a full-time job that demands time, discipline, and personal growth to unlock the future ahead.
Cameron Roberts, a junior at Felician University studying Computer Science, transformed the difficulty of adapting to college life into a form of creative expression through fashion.
During his senior year of High School, Cameron called a friend to discuss his spontaneous idea to start their own apparel brand. Drawing inspiration from their worries associated with transitioning from high school to college, Cameron created the logo and worked closely with his friend to lay the foundations of what’s now known as “DOUBT4UL Apparel.”
DOUBT4UL Apparel’s primary mission is to motivate its customers to embrace their self-doubt, recognizing that fear is what stops us from becoming the best version of ourselves. By researching online trends and customer reactions through social media, the apparel’s style reflects a distressed and vintage look, notably seen throughout the 1990s and early 2000s.
Cameron’s unwavering courage plays a vital role in his drive to manage classes, a business, and his personal life simultaneously. Living in proximity to both campuses, Cameron’s daily commute provides him the flexibility to achieve his educational goals as an entrepreneur while actively maintaining close relationships with his family and friends.
It goes without saying that Cameron’s hard work across all aspects of his life stems from practicing patience and staying dedicated to the journey. “The most important thing for me is time management,” said Cameron. “The biggest challenge I face is consistency, especially with little time left in the day after attending school and work. It’s so easy to want to leave it be in moments where motivation is not on your side. However, I feel like we’re so far ahead after working on these skills together as a team.”
Cameron’s communication and interpersonal skills have allowed him to build a support system of professors and classmates who share the same passion for the brand and its message. Fellow students in his marketing classes are always willing to participate in photoshoots that will be used for future social media and website campaigns, amplifying the brand’s mission and authenticity by using student models to market the apparel.
It’s in those very same marketing classes that connections with other students and professional skills are developed, sometimes turning weaknesses into the greatest assets. Cameron credited Professor Michael Cicchine for teaching a marketing perspective through the lens of a business owner, demonstrating the psychology behind consumer behavior and how to curate products based on unique audience needs and purchasing motivations.
Within the next 5–10 years, Cameron’s goal is to increase DOUBT4UL Apparel’s visibility by securing placement in retail stores and expanding the brand beyond online platforms. He believes that once a strong community is built, its support can carry the brand to new heights, and with consistency, creativity, and meaningful networking, he’s confident that this vision is not only possible but also within reach.
For Cameron, DOUBT4UL is more than a brand name; it’s a mindset, a message, and a movement born from personal growth and experience.
