New Felician University Chapter of International Nursing Honors Society
RUTHERFORD, NJ – Felician University is proud to announce Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honors Society has approved the charter for Alpha Beta Chi, an independent chapter of this prestigious organization on campus.
This new nursing honor society chapter gives Felician University School of Nursing students greater opportunity for global education, professional networking, and academic scholarship. Sigma Theta Tau membership is now open to School of Nursing students who demonstrate excellence at Felician University and who must be nominated by nursing faculty in order to join the global honors society.
“It’s a huge step forward for Felician’s Nursing Program as a whole,” said Dr. Daria Waszak, Associate Dean in the School of Nursing. “The presence of an organization like Sigma Theta Tau on our campus provides our students with invaluable involvement, engagement, scholarship, and networking opportunities.”
For decades, Felician University’s nationally recognized School of Nursing has pursued scholarship and education opportunities through their Sigma Theta Tau chapter partnership with St. Elizabeth University and St. Peter’s University. This year, Felician applied for departure from the at-large chapter of Sigma Theta Tau in order to charter an independent chapter on the Felician campus. Successfully demonstrating an independent activities and programming plan, a strong leadership board, and budget outline, Felician’s Alpha Beta Chi chapter received approval from the international organization.
As the second-largest nursing organization in the world, the Sigma Theta Tau International Society of Nursing has been empowering nursing education and world health initiatives since 1922. With over 500 chapters worldwide, Felician University’s new independent chapter of Sigma Theta Tau connects the campus to a global legacy of excellence in nursing education. Felician University members of the Alpha Beta Chi chapter will be officially inducted in a chartering ceremony on the Rutherford campus on May 19, 2023.
