J. Fletcher Creamer, Jr. Joins Felician University Board of Trustees
Felician University is proud to announce that J. Fletcher Creamer, Jr. has been appointed to the University’s Board of Trustees. Mr. Creamer has a long history of supporting Felician University including as a member of the Council of Regents. He is presently Co-Chair of the Capital Campaign Committee for the new Wellness and Recreation Center currently under construction on the Rutherford campus.
The CEO of J. Fletcher Creamer & Son, Inc., one of the most successful utility and heavy construction contractors in the nation, Mr. Creamer announced that he will be retiring in September after 55 years on the job. “Perfect timing for Felician,” remarked Chris Swenson, Chairman of Felician’s Board of Trustees. “I am thrilled he is joining us as a Trustee. Fletch has been an ardent supporter of the University for many years. His passion for excellence is legendary and he has long been aligned with the mission and Franciscan values of the University. Now he can work directly with us to strengthen the University and position us for an even brighter future.”
Mr. Creamer served as President of the Utility and Transportation Contractors of New Jersey (UTCA) Board of Directors, and in 2013 joined the Board of Trustees of the Associated Construction Contractors of New Jersey. His extraordinary service on that organization’s labor committee earned him the Ronald L. Weiner Award, as well as its most prestigious award, the William Feather Award. Mr. Creamer was inducted into the UTCA New Jersey Construction Industry Hall of Fame in 2014.
His long list of awards demonstrates his extensive community and civic involvement and includes the Archdiocese of Newark Archbishop’s Business and Labor Recognition Award. He received the AFL-CIO Annual Labor Award for Business, the NJIT Engineering Impact Award, the American Red Cross Salute to Volunteerism Award, and the New Jersey Alliance for Action President’s Award. Among many others, he received the Meadowlands Chamber of Commerce Award for his commitment to the growth and economy of the Meadowlands and New Jersey. He has been named one of the Top 100 Business People in New Jersey by Business News.
Mr. Creamer is a dedicated member of the Bergen County 200 Club, which provides assistance to families of police, fire and ambulance squads whose members are injured in the performance of their duties. He serves on the Board of Governors of Hackensack University Medical Center, the Board of Directors of the New Jersey Performing Arts Center and the New Jersey Alliance for Action, and was a Director for Commerce and Industry of New Jersey.
Mr. Creamer attended Fairleigh Dickinson University where he majored in Business Administration, and lives in Northern New Jersey with his wife Edie. Together they have eight grandchildren.
