Felician University’s School of Nursing Named “Stellar School”

Lodi, NJ – March 13, 2019 – Felician University’s School of Nursing was recognized as a “Stellar School” by the National Student Nurses’ Association. One of only four new schools this year to achieve this status, Felician University’s chapter was recognized for “a strong commitment to shared governance and professional development of their students and faculty.”

“We are extremely proud to be awarded this distinction as it recognizes the hard work and achievements of our nursing students and faculty. Our students and professors are highly qualified, caring individuals, whose goals and values align with those of both Felician University and the NSNA. It is truly my privilege to be their Dean,” said Christine Mihal, Dean for the School of Nursing.

Felician University’s nursing students are engaged in NSNA initiatives at local, state, and national levels. One of their initiatives for this year is to teach nursing students self-wellness, so that they are better prepared students and nurses when they enter the workforce.

Professor of Nursing Kym Burrows discussed how Felician’s students have built up their NSNA chapter exponentially over the past ten years and credits the students’ efforts for this award: “I’m so humbly proud of our students who have been able to raise our NSNA chapter level to that of the nationally recognized Stellar School Status. Their collective work and dedication over the past ten years is what made this achievement possible.”

Four Felician student delegates will go to Salt Lake City this April to accept this award during the NSNA’s 67th Annual Convention.
