Felician University’s School of Business & Information Sciences (SOBIS) Elevates Industry Visionaries to Full-Time Leadership

Rutherford, NJ – Felician University and the School of Business & Information Sciences (SOBIS) are proud to announce the appointment of two distinguished practitioners to our full-time faculty: Professor Jose Martinez and Dr. Carlos Diaz-Restrepo.

These appointments mark a significant milestone in our commitment to the “Felician Forward” vision, integrating high-level industry expertise with rigorous academic instruction to prepare students for the complexities of the modern workforce.

Professor Jose Martinez: A New Era for Cybersecurity

Following a successful tenure as an adjunct professor in Fall 2024, Professor Jose Martinez was promoted to Lecturer in Information Sciences and Director of the Cybersecurity Program in Spring 2025.

Professor Martinez is a visionary strategist with decades of experience in Information Technology and Cybersecurity. Having served in leadership roles at global institutions such as Société Générale and Bloomberg Inc., he brings a master-level specialization in vulnerability assessment, digital forensics, and infrastructure security. A results-oriented problem solver, Professor Martinez excels in implementing robust frameworks (NIST and ISO27001) and managing complex IT landscapes. His unique blend of corporate risk remediation and academic mentorship will be crucial as Felician begins to enhance its technical innovation landscape.

Dr. Carlos Diaz-Restrepo: Bridging Finance and Global Analytics

Joining the SOBIS faculty in Fall 2026 as an adjunct, Dr. Carlos Diaz-Restrepo has been appointed Associate Professor of Accountancy, Finance & Data Analytics.

Dr. Diaz-Restrepo holds a PhD in Management and has built over 20 years of experience in corporate finance and international academic leadership. A specialist in financial risk analysis and business valuation, he offers a dual perspective forged in both the boardroom and the classroom. His professional track record includes managing multi-million dollar financial concessions and optimizing capital structures for major construction projects. With extensive experience leading high-level academic accreditations and international mobility agreements, Dr. Diaz-Restrepo will be vital in bridging theoretical excellence with practical financial innovation.

“We are thrilled to transition these two exceptional leaders into full-time roles,” said Dr. Marcillo, Dean of the School of Business & Information Sciences. “Both Professor Martinez and Dr. Diaz-Restrepo embody the future of SOBIS. By bringing their decades of global corporate success to our students, we are ensuring that a Felician degree remains at the cutting edge of industry demand and professional agility.”
