RUTHERFORD, NJ – FEBRUARY 2024 – Felician University is proud to announce that Dr. Ligia Alberto, Program Director of Educational Leadership, and Assistant Professor in the School of Education, was recently published in the International Journal of Technology and Inclusive Education. Her research entitled, The Power of Mentoring for Women of Color, explores the encounters of school leaders and how mentoring relationships help structure professional journeys.
Dr Albert’s findings highlight the importance of informal mentoring connections especially for advancing the careers of women of color. With data focused on school leadership, mentoring, social capital, diversity and inclusion, cultural intelligence, and cultural competency, her study indicates that mentors play a significant role in empowering Latina women to pursue leadership roles and prevent a pattern of underrepresentation of Latinas in such positions.
