Felician University Hosts New Student Orientation

RUTHERFORD, NJ – Felician University hosted over 350 students from the Class of 2028 on the Rutherford campus for its New Student Orientation. Orientations are held throughout the summer and include campus tours, interactive sessions with deans and academic advisors, and specialized workshops for families on financial aid and campus safety.

Felician University’s President, Dr. Mildred A. Mihlon, provided opening remarks that highlighted the importance of a well-rounded college experience. “This experience will allow you to practice self-reflection, set goals, and surround yourself with positive influences.” She reassured them of the university’s support, stating, “You are now a part of a compassionate community that cares about your success and well-being.”

The keynote address was given by Michael Spence, a motivational speaker and founder of T.R.I.B.E. – an organization aimed towards inspiring youth and young adults to become effective change agents. Mr. Spence engaged the students through different activities while also offering life lessons based on personal experiences. He concluded his presentation with a powerful message stating, “Don’t be invisible, be invaluable.”

New students were able to explore the campus and the various services that will be accessible to them during their college careers such as the on-campus counseling center, residence life, and the Center for Career and Academic Success (CCAS). First year academic advisors were also introduced to provide insight into the many programs that the university has to offer across the four schools – arts & sciences, business & information sciences, education, and nursing.

New Student Orientations are an example to Felician University’s commitment to support each incoming class, providing essential tips and resources to students and families.
