Felician University Announces Chris Swenson as Vice Chair
Felician University announced that Board of Trustee member Chris Swenson will be the Board’s new Vice Chair. Mr. Swenson will begin assuming duties as the liaison for the Board to the University for the 2018-2019 academic year.
Chris Swenson currently serves as the President of Swenson Ranch in Round Rock, Texas. Mr. Swenson was a long-time Montclair resident and was the founder of the Montclair Baseball and Softball Club, a not-for-profit that serves more than 600 kids each year. He also established a tutoring center that received Montclair Neighborhood Development Corporation’s highest civic award in 2009.
“I am excited to serve Felician University as the vice-chair and I look forward to helping the University advance its mission of educating students for exciting careers while instilling values that build character and an attitude of service.” Chris continues, “Felician probably serves the most diverse student population in North Jersey and has had outstanding success in making sure their students graduate and are prepared for the world we live in, no matter their background or economic status. This is a place that cares deeply about its students, which is what attracted me to Felician in the first place. We have some exciting opportunities over the next year, including building the new Wellness and Athletic Center and I’m proud to be a part of that effort.”
Mr. Swenson has a long career including serving as an aide to Senator Bill Bradley, President of Barnegat Communications, and Founder of BATNET, which was awarded NJ Technology Council’s Startup Company of the Year in 1999. “Chris brings a tremendous talent and expertise as a Board member and we’re excited to have him serve the University in this new role,” shares Dr. John A. Farkas, Vice President of University Advancement.
In addition to the Felician University Board, Chris serves on the Board of the Texas Pioneer Farm Mutual Insurance Association, Swenson Land & Cattle Company and Svante’s Ranch Direct, a company that sells all-natural, grass-fed beef directly to consumers.
