Felician University and Fairleigh Dickinson University Launch PharmD Dual-Degree Program

Rutherford, NJ — Felician University is thrilled to partner with Fairleigh Dickinson University’s College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences on the establishment of a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) dual-degree program. Qualifying B.S. in Biology and B.S. in Natural Sciences and Mathematics students who have completed their junior year may enroll in FDU’s PharmD track to begin the first year of the program while simultaneously earning the remaining credits toward their bachelor’s degree.

The first years of undergraduate study for Biology and Natural Sciences majors serve as a foundational learning experience, enabling students to develop the pre-pharmaceutical competencies necessary to work in laboratory and medical settings. Once enrolled in the PharmD program, students engage in hands-on, experiential learning courses designed to strengthen critical thinking skills and prepare them for patient-centered professional practice.

Earning a Doctor of Pharmacy degree can open the door to a wide range of career paths within hospital and community pharmacies, public health, research facilities, and health insurance companies. Requiring a strong foundation in adaptability, empathy, and problem-solving skills, the pharmaceutical industry is an ideal field for those seeking a role deeply rooted in direct patient care and improving health outcomes across diverse populations.

“This articulation is a natural extension of the opportunities we provide through our Rx Society, which has been instrumental in mentoring students, fostering their passion for pharmacy, and preparing them for success in professional programs,” said Dr. Tara Kent, Dean of the School of Arts & Sciences. “We are proud to formalize this collaboration with FDU, further demonstrating our commitment to supporting our students’ aspirations in the pharmaceutical sciences.”
