Felician to Launch Institute for Information Sciences
Felician University, long known as a leader in Teaching and Nursing Education, is poised to also become a leader in Information Sciences Education when it launches its Institute for Information Sciences on Thursday February 6.
The Institute for Information Services will offer cutting-edge curriculum in Computer Science, Cyber Security, and Information Sciences. Felician’s VP for Technology, Design and Innovation Dr. Robert Clougherty will serve as the Institute’s Director. “What will set the Institute apart is that it will have a strong emphasis on employability of students focusing on skill sets,” says Clougherty.
Dr. Clougherty joined the Felician faculty in August 2019, bringing a wealth of experience, most recently from Glasgow Caledonian New York College, which was part of Glasgow Caledonian University. Dr. Clougherty’s article While Choosing An EdTech Product, Take a Broader Prospective was published in a November edition of Education Technology Insights.
In her October State of the University Address Felician President Dr. Anne Prisco talked about the need to stay ahead of the curve in terms of Information Sciences Education saying, “We know technology impacts everything we do now in both our personal and professional lives and as educators we need to think about what’s available to us in the classroom and how will artificial Intelligence impact how we deliver education in the future.”
Felician’s Institute for Information Services will sponsor monthly seminars designed for professional development called the Ockham Lectures named after William of Ockam, a 14th Century Franciscan Friar who studied logic.
The launch of the Institute for Information Sciences will be held Thursday February 6 at 6:30 pm at Ray’s Place, Education Commons on the Rutherford Campus at 223 Montross Avenue.
