Improvement and growth are often born of adversity. When trouble strikes good people step up to fill a void, answer a question, or satisfy a need.

That was the idea behind Felician University’s first virtual Alumni Networking event held Thursday May 7th. Approximately 40 attendees tuned in to the online presentation Business Opportunities in Troubled Times featured a keynote address by Professor Michael Omansky of the School of Business and Information Sciences, and was moderated by Felician Alumni Eric Moore, a Director in the Clearance and Collateral Management division of Bank of New York Mellon.

Diane Sedlmeir, Felician’s Director of Alumni Engagement said the event was “a way for Felician alums to converse with fellow alums, discern timely and important information, and perhaps learn ways to take advantage of opportunities.”

Other speakers included Vince Vicari, Regional Director of the New Jersey Small Business Development Center, JoAnn Mitchell, Partner Marketing Specialist with Sandvik Coromant, and Kathleen Cronin, NJ Small Business Development Center Coordinator & Outreach.

The Alumni Networking presentations will be an ongoing series with topics determined by Felician alumni themselves. Remembering his time in Felician’s MBA Program under Professor Omansky, Leo McGuire, retired Bergen County Sheriff, who now serves as Chairman of the Alumni Advisory Board said, “Now is a time for redirecting, entrepreneurship, innovation and maybe looking at new programs that Felician has to offer.”
