Felician Bowler Nominated for Woman of the Year Award
Felician Bowler Nominated for Woman of the Year Award – Celebrating Excellence in Women’s Sports!
Recent Felician University graduate has been nominated by the Golden Falcons’ athletics department for the 2020 NCAA Woman of the Year Award.
The National Collegiate Athletic Association established the award in 1991 to recognize graduating female student-athletes who have distinguished themselves in academics, athletics, service, and leadership throughout their collegiate careers.
Aumack, an education major graduated in May with a GPA of 3.81. She was Felician University’s female senior student-athlete of the year for 2020. During her time at Felician University Aumack donated time preparing meals for the Community Food Bank of New Jersey, and taught bowling at the St. Joseph’s Hospital Binder Autism Center.
The NCAA put forth 605 female athletes across 24 sports for the honor by member schools but Aumack is one of only two nominees nationwide from the sport of bowling. Her final conference championship was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic and it is her hope that every athlete, “Will learn from the pandemic and treat every competition as if it were their last, because you never truly know when competition can be taken from you.” Aumack is grateful for the mental toughness and determination that competing as a college athlete has given her and says she plans to use those skills in the future as an educator.
Felician is an associate member of the East Coast Conference only for women’s bowling therefore Aumack’s nomination will be considered by a selection committee rather than a league office, and the committee will narrow the list to nine finalists before announcing the NCAA Woman of the Year in the fall.
Good Luck and congrats to Nicole who continues to make Felician proud!
