Felician University’s CFIPS Launches WIBD NJ Chapter on International Women’s Day

Felician University’s Center for Innovation and Professional Studies (CFIPS) launched the NJ chapter of Women in Big Data (WiBD) on March 8, in recognition of International Women’s Day.

The launch was moderated by Jennifer Fischer, CFIPS Executive Director, who was joined by a panel featuring two women leaders in data fields, Elizabeth Barayuga, Principal Data Scientist at UPS and Deana Denton, Global Director, Information Technology Strategy, Supply Chain Management at Corning.

Professional & student members of the WiBD NJ chapter welcome the general public to their monthly learning & networking events with distinguished speakers covering topics such as data governance, data ethics, datapreneurship, information protection, skill shares for data-driven technologies and also explore opportunities for custom certificate(s) and micro-credentials.

WiBD

WiBD

WiBD started as a grass-roots organization in 2015 with the mission to inspire and connect women in big data careers. The organization started with 15 members and one chapter in the San Francisco Bay Area, however, the WiBD community has grown to more than 17,000 members across 37 chapters and six continents, spreading inspiration, growing networks, and promoting the success of members on an ever-expanding platform. To learn more, visit their website at https://www.womeninbigdata.org.

The growth of the relationship between Felician CFIPS and WiBD aims to advance women in technology, showcase talent of NJ students (student-led skill shares), focus on NJ economic drivers: innovation, entrepreneurship, emerging tech and promoting social responsibility and inspiring the next generation of leaders. They also strive to provide professional development and networking for data professionals, mentorship for emerging data professionals, and experiential learning experience designed for Future of Work.

We applaud the CFIPS and WiBD for the virtual panel event that featured women leaders in data fields discussing big data and future work, social and economic impacts, and their career journeys!
