Candlelight Ceremony Honors School of Education Graduates: Celebrating Achievements and Bright Futures!

Felician University’s School of Education held its Candlelight Ceremony on June 10 for 2021 degree recipients and certificate and licensing program graduates in the Lecture Hall on the Lodi campus. Dean Stephanie McGowan presided over the event which opened with words of empowerment from Interim President James W. Crawford, III. He celebrated the new and seasoned educators by saying, “the metaphor of taking your light, enhanced by your Felician education, out into the world and becoming a change-maker in the field of education, is especially significant today as we are emerging from the darkness of this pandemic.”

Special awards were presented by faculty members including the Sr. Annelle Velivis Legacy Award, which was given to Arianna Azzolino, who finished her Bachelors in Education with a concentration in Elementary Education, Middle School Mathematics, and Teacher of Students with Disabilities. All 46 graduates, 26 of whom receiving a Master of Arts in Education, were recognized for their exceptional efforts in completing their program requirements despite the challenges of the global COVID-19 pandemic.

Felician’s School of Education offers 5 undergraduate programs and 21 graduate programs with concentrations in Teacher Education, Special Education, English as a Second Language Certification, Learning Disability Teacher Consulting (LDTC), Applied Behavioral Analysis, and Educational Leadership.  Also participating in the ceremony was Dr. John Burke, Executive Director of Felician’s I-CAdRE, the International Center for Autism and Disabilities Research in Education.

Felician University will honor all graduates at three Commencement ceremonies to be held on Saturday, June 26^th in the Breslin Performing Arts Center on the Lodi Campus.
