Making Felician History: Baseball Team Earns National Ranking!

RUTHERFORD, N.J. – The Felician University baseball team is ranked No. 23 in the current National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) national NCAA Division II poll, released late Tuesday. The recognition marks the first national ranking in any recognized poll in Felician baseball history.

Felician went 6-1 last week to improve to 13-6 on the season.

The complete poll can be viewed at www.gohilltoppers.com/sports/2017/3/27/2017-ncbwa-national-poll-3-28.aspx.

“This is a great accomplishment for our guys, and for the guys who came before them and laid the groundwork for this,” said Felician head coach Chris Langan, who has led the Golden Falcons for 14 of the their 18 years of existence. “It’s something to build off of. But in order to reach our goals, we need to keep winning.”

Felician is ranked No. 2 in the NCBWA Division II East Region Poll. It has played against only one other member of the NCBWA national top 25, defeating No. 16 Nova Southeastern University on Mar. 7, at a time when the Sharks were ranked No. 1.

Tuesday marks the first time any Felician athletics program has been nationally-ranked since the Golden Falcons reclassified to the NCAA prior to the 2002-03 academic year. Felician’s men’s soccer program was ranked in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics, and the women’s soccer program received votes from the NAIA.

Felician is a member of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference.
