Felician University Announces 2024 Martin Luther King, Jr. Legacy Award Recipient

RUTHERFORD, NJ – JANUARY 2024 – Felician University is proud to announce that Don Jones, Chairman of Verite Capital Partners, has been selected as the recipient of the 2024 Martin Luther King, Jr. Legacy Award. The award ceremony will take place at Michael’s Riverside in Lyndhurst, NJ on January 29, at 6pm.

During an impressive career spanning nearly five decades, Don Jones has made significant contributions to the retail industry and beyond. Having held executive positions at renowned retailers such as Macy’s, Marshall Fields, IKEA, GAP, and Target, Jones brings a wealth of experience across various sectors including fashion, consumer products, food service, management, and entertainment. In 2009, Jones founded Verite Capital Partners, a firm dedicated to empowering underserved communities in their entrepreneurial endeavors.

In all his pursuits, Jones expresses the highest standards of leadership, integrity, civic and social responsibility, and community building. Felician students have found him to be a living example of the spirit of Dr. King.

Felician University created the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Legacy Award to recognize individuals who strive to fulfill Dr. King’s dream through their passion for issues related to social justice, civil rights, and economic equality, and who also embody our Felician Franciscan core values of compassion, justice and peace, and respect for humanity. Previous recipients of this award include Senator Cory Booker, former Lt. Governor of NJ Sheila Oliver, The Honorable Jeh Johnson, Joetta Clark-Diggs, and Carla Harris.
