Felician Pledge Tuition Grant Program
The Pledge Grant Program is Felician’s commitment to making a college degree accessible and affordable by reducing out-of-pocket costs for students and their families. With the Pledge Grant, eligible students can graduate from Felician University and begin their careers debt-free!
A. Eligibility Requirements:
Admitted students are automatically considered for the Pledge Grant upon the university’s receipt of their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by May 1st, for the applicable award year. They must meet the following requirements.
- Incoming first-year students starting the Fall 2023 semester enrolled in a traditional undergraduate program
- New Jersey Resident
- United States Citizen or Permanent Resident
- Have an annual household adjusted gross income (AGI) from $0 to $65,000. Families with an annual adjusted gross income (AGI) of $65,001 – $80,000 can be considered for a partial amount of the grant based on need. Please note households with negative AGIs are not eligible
- Enrolled full-time (minimum of 12 credits per semester) and working towards completing their first bachelor’s degree
- Adhere to all federal and/or state verification deadlines
B. Terms and Conditions
The Felician Pledge Grant covers tuition, comprehensive and mandatory fees for the standard full-time credit load per semester (12-18 credits) in traditional undergraduate programs. The total of all grants and scholarships from the University, federal and/or state cannot exceed the cost of tuition, comprehensive fees, and room and board if applicable.
This grant cannot be used for room and board and/or residential expenses.
The Felician Pledge Grant is a last dollar financial aid program. This means it is the University’s expectation that students secure all federal and state grants for which they are eligible for so we may continue to offer the grant to as many eligible, deserving students as possible.
This grant is intended to assist students in graduating with little to no debt. If a student is eligible to borrow federal student loans, the University cannot deny a request to borrow; however, it strongly encourages students and their families to exercise good judgment when using these funds to cover indirect educational expenses. These expenses can include transportation, books, and supplies. It is recommended that students and their families proactively plan alternate methods of payment for indirect expenses.
The University bears the right to annually evaluate the effectiveness of this program.
Awards made are renewable upon meeting all terms and conditions for up to eight consecutive terms of full-time enrollment at Felician University.
C. Disbursement Requirements:
Once a student is deemed eligible for the Pledge Grant based on the criteria listed in Section A, the Office of Financial Aid will verify the following.
- New Jersey Residency status
- United States Citizenship or Permanent Residency status
- Full-time enrollment status (12 – 18 credits) and attendance
A student needs to meet federal and state attendance verification meaning a student must be attending their classes once the semester commences
- Program of study and admit term
- Annual Adjusted Gross Income
Please note the Office of Financial Aid will request tax returns and/or tax transcripts to verify Pledge Grant recipient’s AGI.
If any of the above cannot be verified by the Office of Financial Aid, the university reserves the right to rescind the Pledge Grant award. It is imperative that students ensure they adhere to all university requests and deadlines. It is the students’ responsibility to ensure their contact information is current. If you need to update your contact information please email the Office of Admissions at admissions@felician.edu or the Office of the Registrar at registrar@felician.edu and include your Felician Student ID number. If there are extenuating circumstances, please contact the Office of Financial Aid immediately at 201-559-6010 or finaid@felician.edu
D. Renewal
To continue receiving the Pledge Grant students must submit their FAFSA every academic year by April 1st. The grant only covers 8 consecutive semesters (2 semesters an academic year) of full-time enrollment. If a student chooses to leave the university or take a leave of absence for any reason, they are not guaranteed to receive the Pledge Grant upon their return. In addition, it is the student’s responsibility to adhere to the following:
- Meet all federal and/or state verification deadlines
- Maintain full-time enrollment (12-18 credits a semester) at the university in a traditional undergraduate program.
- Maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) to remain eligible for federal financial aid.
To learn more about SAP please visit studentaid.gov or contact the Office of Financial Aid.
E. Appeal
Students registered less than full-time may appeal if there is an extenuating circumstance preventing the student from maintaining full-time enrollment. Decisions made by the Director of Financial Aid and/or the Assistant Vice President of Enrollment Management are final. A prorated amount may be granted.
