Felician University’s Center for Italian Programs offers students a variety of opportunities, academic and otherwise, to explore and experience Italy, including its beautiful language, vibrant culture, and unique people. Offering programs that are online, on-campus at Felician, and abroad in Italy, Felician strives to give its students the opportunity to gain international experience by turning the world into their classroom.
Dr. Anne Prisco, Felician’s President and proud first-generation Italian-American, is working diligently to establish connections between Felician and the Italian community both here in New Jersey and in Italy. She has garnered the support of Francesco Genuardi, Consul General of Italy, Silvana Mangione, Deputy Secretary General of the General Council of Italians Abroad, and both the Columbians and Cavalieri Societies.
In the Fall of 2018, Felician University signed a memorandum of understanding with the Italian Culture on the Net (known as ICoN, a consortium of 16 Italian universities). Dr. Prisco has since been able to expand Felician’s relationships and bring about the creation of partner programs.
Italian programs were officially introduced on November 3, 2018, and a few days later Dante scholar Professor Mirko Tavoni of the University of Pisa presented to Felician students, faculty, and staff as part of the Center for Italian Programs’ first event. As of September of 2019, the first ever student-run Italian club has been established with the help of the Center for Italian Programs and already has 12 students participating.
The Center for Italian Programs’ mission is to continue to develop and expand new and existing relationships with signed memorandums of understanding with John Cabot University in Rome, University of Pisa, and Istituto Visconti (a private high school in Rome). The central focus of this mission is to enhance the educational experiences of students with innovative academic programs that bring students closer to the rich culture, heritage, and language of Italy.

Academic Programs
Expanding the classroom. The Felician Way.
Through the Center for Italian Programs, Felician University is proud to offer multiple academic programs for students to explore and experience Italian heritage, language, and culture. As we continue to develop and expand our relationships with Italian universities and institutions, we encourage students, faculty, staff, and the entire community to take advantage of these dynamic programs that serve to connect people with Italy and enhance our global perspectives.
Together with John Cabot University, an American university located in Rome, Felician now offers an online course: Intro to UN: International Relations & Global Affairs. The course gives both Felician and John Cabot students the chance to learn about and experience the United Nations. Felician is also offering a faculty-led 2-week trip to John Cabot University’s School of Business and Information Sciences, giving students the chance to experience business across the world.
In collaboration with Istituto Visconti, a private high school in Rome, Felician is offering a student exchange program for students whose first language is not English. This English as a Second Language (ESL) program helps students advance their English-speaking skills while experiencing different cultures.

It is with the support of the community that our students are able to expand their international insights and step outside of their day-to-day reality, enabling them to contribute to a world of understanding and acceptance.

Felician is a member of the National Italian American Foundation (NIAF) and supports their mission to nurture the heritage of Italian-Americans, keeping alive their values and cultural traditions and preserving the memory of Italian impact and contribution in the history and progress of the United States.
