Student Financial Services Counselor

Felician University, the Franciscan University of New Jersey is seeking a dynamic, enthusiastic, detailed-oriented and student-focused financial support professional to serve as Student Financial Services Counselor. Reporting to the Associate Director of Student Financial Services, the Counselor provides wholistic support to students and their families in the areas of financial aid and student accounts.  S/he plays a key role in helping students secure financial aid, manage their student accounts, and navigate educational financing options with a focus on access, affordability and student success.  The Counselor provides guidance through phone advising, walk-in sessions, and ongoing communications to ensure students understand the resources available to them, and are able to meet their financial obligations in order to graduate from Felician University.

Required Education:

AA degree required, BA/BS degree preferred

Qualifications:

1-3 years of counseling, customer service, or student support experience; proven comprehensive knowledge of federal and state financial aid regulations, including FAFSA, scholarship applications, and loan processes; strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills; demonstrated commitment to student support and success; ability to work both independently and as an effective team member in a fast-paced environment; experience with Colleague or other student information systems is preferred; professional and engaging demeanor, with the ability to build rapport with students and families from diverse backgrounds; flexibility and willingness to work evenings and weekends as needed to meet student needs; willing ness and ability to support and promote the Felician Franciscan mission and values of the University.
