Assistant/Associate Professor, Psychology

Felician University is currently seeking an experienced, dedicated and academically qualified psychology specialist for the position of Assistant/Associate Professor in the Psychology department of the School of Arts and Sciences.  The Assistant/Associate Professor plays an integral role in shaping the minds and developing the skill sets of our students by delivering engaging instruction using best practices in higher education and areas of expertise. S/he collaborates with faculty and staff colleagues to foster a supportive learning environment through teaching a minimum of 9 credits per semester in the field of counseling, as well as contributing to the supervision and training of counseling psychology doctoral students.  The area of expertise is open, although there is particular interest in applicants who have strong clinical experience and commitment to supervising and training students from highly diverse backgrounds.

Candidates should have experience teaching in both traditional and online venues and must be willing to successfully complete Felician online certification.  S/he must have an educational background in the fundamentals of the discipline, as well as a wealth of real-world experience to bring to class discussions and case analyses.

Required Education:

Earned doctoral degree Counseling or Clinical Psychology from an APA approved doctoral program

Qualifications:

Proven record of scholarship appropriate to rank; 5+ years’ clinical experience; documented experience teaching in a university setting; demonstrated experience providing clinical supervision; demonstrated understanding of and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, including social justice and urban issues; eligibility for licensure or licensed as a psychologist in New Jersey; demonstrate professionalism, with the ability to provide quality customer service to a diverse student constituency in accordance with the University’s values;  ability to build and sustain positive working relationships; well-developed problem-solving and decision-making abilities; ability to identify and maintain confidentiality with sensitivity and  empathy; superior written and verbal communications skills; demonstrated organizational and record-keeping skills, with attention to detail and timely and accurate follow-through;  strong interpersonal skills, with flexibility, willingness to learn, ability to change, and maintain current technology skills; willingness and ability to support and promote the Felician Franciscan Mission and values of the University.
