Executive Director for Safety and Security

Felician University is presently seeking an experienced professional in Emergency Management to serve as the Executive Director for Safety and Security. Reporting to the Vice President of Administration, the Executive Director is responsible for providing leadership and oversight of the planning, management and administration of all public safety matters, as well as coordinating emergency response. S/he ensures a safe and secure environment for and provision of responsive and respectful assistance to students, faculty, staff, visitors and members of the community. The Executive Directive serves as the Chief Safety and Security Officer of the University, including the management and supervision of non-sworn personnel.

Required Education:

BA/BS or higher required, preferably in a related field.

Qualifications:

Minimum of 5 years’ of progressively responsible experience in Emergency Management at Director level, experience working in higher education preferred; current and valid driver’s license; documentation supporting completion of FEMA training courses IS-100, IS-700, IS-800, NIMS ICS-300; comprehensive knowledge of systems administration, proficiency in the utilization of Microsoft Office Suite; demonstrated ability to lead a team in emergency preparedness, business continuity, and resiliency programs; proven success in the development and facilitation of effective training programs for emergency preparedness, business continuity, and other related activities designed to foster cohesive communication for student and staff for emergency preparedness; demonstrated ability to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with local, state and emergency service providers, as well as safety and security colleagues at other universities and professional organizations such as IAEM; demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities concurrently, and delegate effectively and expediently when appropriate; superior verbal and written communication skills; strong group presentation skills; ability and willingness to serve on-call as primary contact for emergencies and activation of the Emergency Operations Group as needed; ability and willingness to support and promote the mission and core values of Felician University; strategic planning experience and advanced professional training certifications in Emergency Management from NEMA or related agencies preferred.
