Felician University, the Franciscan University of New Jersey is seeking an innovative, enthusiastic, detail-oriented, and student-focused residence life professional to serve as the Director of Housing and Residence Life. The Director serves as an integral member of the leadership team within Student Affairs, providing critical services and information to students, parents, faculty, staff, and cross-divisional University departments. S/he ensures the provision of exceptional residential experiences to enhance Felician’s residential community, emphasizing student development, retention, and sense of belonging. The Director is responsible for the oversight, operation, administration, and supervision of a comprehensive residential program housing students in traditional on-campus living and off-campus university-provided housing options, including the development and implementation of a comprehensive co-curricular learning program for resident students.

Required Education:
Master’s degree in Higher Education/College Student Personnel, Leadership Administration, or related field required
Qualifications:
5 years’ experience in Housing and Residence Life at the mid to senior level management; progressive leadership in Housing and Residence Life in a leadership capacity, at mid to senior levels; demonstrated record of successful administrative leadership and experience in supervision of professional and student staff, providing feedback, coaching, and devising performance improvement plans; extensive professional experience utilizing room assignment software, residential experience and engagement tracking software, student conduct management software, event management software, and/or behavior or progressive discipline management software; demonstrated experience with assessment, staff and fiscal management, and strategic planning; proven experience with management and operational aspects of Student Life, including student and staff development components; well-developed verbal and written communication skills; ability to effectively present information to top leadership and external stakeholders; demonstrated sensitivity to the needs and concerns of a diverse student population required; proven ability to create and promote an inclusive community; ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects simultaneously; exceptional critical thinking skills as demonstrated by the ability to analyze large amounts of information, synthesize results, and facilitate resolution of difficult challenges; strong program and process management skills including strategic planning and risk management; proficiency with common office software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook), social media platforms, and housing management software; proven experience in the development and assessment of co-curricular programming (residential curriculum); well-developed knowledge of program and event planning; ability and willingness to work flex hours including evenings and weekends as needed; comprehensive understanding of current and emerging theories for student development and leadership; well-developed comprehension of the role Student Affairs plays in student success and retention; understanding of and ability to communicate the value of living on campus and its contributions to student success; proven record of successful experience responding to individual and community issues and crisis; familiarity, understanding, and experience working with students of concern / behavior intervention teams; high level of personal and professional integrity; ability to recognize sensitive information, and handle confidential matters with discretion and professionalism; willingness and ability to support and promote the Felician Franciscan mission and core values of the University.
