Director of Development and Major Gifts Officer

Felician University is offering an exciting opportunity for an experienced, creative and goal-oriented advancement professional to serve as the Director of Development and Major Gifts Officer. The Director supports the philanthropic activities and goals of the University and is responsible for managing the operational details and logistics for the fundraising efforts of the Advancement division of External Relations; cultivating, soliciting, closing and stewarding major donors with an emphasis on raising unrestricted and restricted funds for the areas of greatest need; identifying and engaging regional development markets in collaboration with the Vice President of External Relations; and performing prospect discovery for the President, Vice President of External Relations, Deans, Faculty and other administrators.

Required Education:

Bachelor’s degree in related field from an accredited college or University required, Master’s degree preferred

Qualifications:

Five to seven years’ experience in major or planned gift fundraising, preferably in higher education, or significant comparable work in sales, marketing, or other client-management professions; superior written, speaking, and presentation communication skills; demonstrated experience in developing clear and concise funding proposals; ability to meet financial goals for major gift giving, with a proven track record of cultivating and securing five-figure gifts and above; proven experience in making cold calls and developing cultivation and solicitation strategies; ability to think and execute strategically and creatively, with highly developed interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence, demonstrated record of completing assignments, multi-tasking, meeting deadlines, and working with minimal supervision; detail-oriented, strong project management skills, a professional attitude and appearance; intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office Suite computer skills; experience with constituent relationship management systems, such as Raisers Edge®, is preferred; willingness and ability to work a flex schedule, including evenings and weekends, as necessary; willingness and ability to support and promote the Felician Franciscan mission and core values of the University.
