Associate Director for Residential Education and Development

Felician University is presently seeking an experienced, highly motivated, creative, self-motivated, and student-centric student residential life professional to serve as Associate Director for Residential Education and Development.  Reporting to the Director of Housing and Residence Life, the Associate Director has oversight of a comprehensive residential curriculum, living-learning communities, and departmental assessment efforts to ensure the achievement of department goals in accordance with the mission and core values of the University.  S/he supervises paraprofessional staff members in the management of their respective residential areas and serves as a member of the Student Affairs Leadership team and a member of key university committees, with a concentration on student growth and development, student satisfaction, and student success.

The Associate Director for Residential Education and Development is required to live on campus and be a visible presence during and outside of office hours, including evenings and weekends. S/he will be provided an unfurnished, one-bedroom apartment.

Required Education:

BA/BS degree required, Master’s degree in Higher Education/College Student Personnel or related field preferred.

Qualifications:

2+ years of full-time, progressive professional, experience managing overall operations of residential life and housing that includes: mentoring students, safety programs, alcohol awareness programs, educational programming, recreation and social programs and orientation programs, policy development, marketing, managing staff, budgeting, billing, damage assessments and safety; comprehensive knowledge of student development theory and curriculum development; proven experience with student staff training and development; significant professional experience with progressively increasing administrative responsibilities in student affairs at a high management level; demonstrated experience managing residence life programs; strong vision for a purposeful residence life program and demonstrated resourcefulness towards achieving/implementing such vision; proven experience in student living-learning communities and assessment; demonstrated understanding of how to promote student learning and academic success in a residential life environment; demonstrated skills of leadership and communication, sensitivity to individual differences and an interest and enthusiasm for working with students; ability to collect and analyze data and apply it to the needs of the department; ability to work effectively as part of a team, including demonstrating flexibility with a continued commitment to high quality results; excellent follow-through with responsibilities and timely communication; strong organizational skills, ability to manage multiple tasks, including effective time management and prioritization capabilities; excellent written and verbal communication skills; experience working with diverse student populations; ability and willingness to work evening and weekend hours as necessary; knowledge of or the willingness and ability to learn quickly Felician University software programs such as The Housing Director and Microsoft Office; willingness and ability to embrace new technologies and innovative organizational practices; willing ness and ability to support and promote the Felician Franciscan mission and core values of the University.

Salary Range:  $53.5 – 71.1, commensurate with education, certifications and experience
