Opportunities Across Disciplines
The Department of Natural Sciences is equipped to prepare you for careers in biology, nursing, education, and entry into postgraduate programs and current and emerging health-related professions.
The Computer Science Department equips you with technology competence, literacy, knowledge, and skills for careers in software engineering, computer hardware and systems software, network and data communications, computer systems analysis and design, and database management.
Through our STEM programs, both science and non-science majors can become familiar with scientific methods of inquiry and communication, while developing an understanding and appreciation of our interdependence with other organisms and the physical environment. Through rigorous coursework, laboratory experiences, and individual attention and evaluation, you can develop the broad knowledge base, critical thinking and analytical skills needed for scientific competence in the twenty-first century.

Our New STEM Center
You’ll experience newly designed labs and multi-purpose rooms to support teamwork, with small tables designed to foster student collaboration and active learning, moving away from a traditional lecture style of teaching. Our facilities include:
- an enhanced ability to strengthen and develop new research opportunities for seniors and prepare those students to continue on to graduate school and careers in science
- a state-of-the-art Bloomberg Financial Lab, bringing real-world data from the world’s leading banks, corporations, and government agencies to enhance studies across a range of disciplines
- a separate area dedicated to research.

The Benefits of STEM at Felician
- Support from STEM program faculty for students taking competitive exams.
- High-achieving STEM students work with faculty in courses and provide supplemental learning and mentoring sessions for students.
- On-demand tutoring tailored to students’ needs to foster a supportive learning community.
- Grant-funded research and internship opportunities are available for faculty and students, leading to conference presentation and/or publication of research.
- Collaboration with the university career and internship center to promote and facilitate internship placement and career preparation for STEM students.
Career Preparedness
- You’ll have the opportunity to be placed in exciting and relevant summer internships to help further your career goals and prepare for life after graduation.
- Students have been placed in internships in science laboratories at other large universities in the area, innovative biotech firms, large companies such as UPS and NJ Transit as well as pre-med internships with local physicians.
- You’ll be supported in your internship efforts with cost-of-living stipends sponsored by the FIESTA grant.

From High School To College: The Fiesta Summer Bridge Program
Incoming first-year student? The Summer Bridge Program helps to prepare you to transition from high school to college.
- You’ll attend a 2-week Summer Bridge program with fellow STEM majors.
- The program allows you to earn 3 tuition-free college credits over the summer in an Introduction to STEM course AND receive a stipend and enhance your college readiness and success.
