Felician Alum Robert Bing ’10 Named Partner at Sionic: A Testament to Professional Success!

In April, Felician University Entrepreneurial Leadership MBA alumnus Robert Bing was named partner in the Banking & Markets practice at Sionic, a global consulting firm specializing in financial services with offices in London, Toronto, and New York, where Bing is based.

A client lifecycle management (CLM) expert, Sionic tapped Bing as a partner in their Banking & Markets practice where he is tasked with expanding Sionic’s CLM for the US markets. In his new role Bing is responsible for everything from client onboarding, account servicing, system implementation, and remediation. Over the last 20 years Bing rose steadily in the banking and consulting industries. His impressive resume includes time at Deloitte & Touche where he served as Chief Administrative Officer and also worked in the Litigation & Dispute practice in their financial advisory services group. Bing has also served as Managing Director and Chief Administrative Officer at HSBC Private Banking, Americas, and Santander Commercial Bank, US. He has worked on process re-engineering, large scale anti-money laundering initiatives, de-risking strategies, managing large cross-functional teams and working with external regulators and internal auditors.

Bing says he was motivated to get an MBA in Innovation and Entrepreneurial Leadership from Felician because he was inspired by his parents to advance further than they did. “I was the first in my family to pursue higher education and I didn’t pursue college because I needed it, but rather because I wanted it,” Bing added.

The MBA program’s cohort approach was one of the main things that attracted him to Felician. “I was impressed with the quality of the professors, the custom nature of the program, and the dynamic and culture that allowed professors to get to know students as individuals,” Bing said. “I appreciated the fact that throughout the program you got handwritten notes on your work, and they took it seriously because they wanted you to get better.” Because Bing had working experience, he was not required to take the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT).

Dr. Anthony Scardino made a positive impact on Bing because of his energy, empathy, and commitment to his students. “I have reached out to him multiple times since graduating to ask questions and get feedback and Dr. Scardino is always there,” exclaimed Bing.”

The Felician Franciscan values resonate deeply with Bing, a father of three who gives back and supports his community. Last November he won election to the Hasbrouck Heights Council, and he coaches various youth sports. He donates time and energy supporting and raising money for the Multiple Sclerosis Society, (Bing’s father, a Vietnam veteran, has the disease).

In addition to his Felician MBA Bing is also a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) and a Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (ACAMS). Bing believes the core values, work ethic, and communication skills he honed at Felician allowed him to compete with MBA graduates from any other university for highly sought-after posts. “The ultimate goal of the program was to develop you as a professional and I do believe Felician lived up to that mission,” said Bing. And that is something for which he will remain forever grateful.
