Junior Software Engineer – Information Systems

Felician University is presently seeking a dynamic, detailed and service-oriented information technology specialist to serve as Junior Software Engineer for the Office of Information Systems.  Reporting to the Director of Information Systems, the Junior Software Engineer assists the senior staff with writing and/or modifying computer programs, testing database queries/modifications to verify accuracy and completeness, and evaluating system failures, making corrections to data, programs or operating system language as needed. S/he works extensively with various reporting tools and supports software solutions including, but not limited to the SLATE Customer Relationship Management System, the Housing Management System and Informer.  The Junior Software Engineer provides technical and analytical support for the Ellucian Colleague Student Information System (SIS), and collaborates with the Offices of Admissions, Financial Aid, Student Accounts, Controller, Registrar and other administrative/academic departments to assist them in achieving their goals and requirements.

Note:  This is a fully on-site position.

Required Education:

BS in Information Systems/Technology, Computer Science or related discipline required; Master’s degree preferred.

Qualifications:

  • Functional knowledge in Ellucian Colleague, MS SQL/Server, and MS T-SQL.
  • Experience with Informer, Visual Basic, MS Office, and other methods as needed to create reports for campus end users, preferred.
  • High degree of personal motivation, self-management and detail orientation.
  • Proven diverse organizational, analytical, and technical skills in report writing, systems integration, development and maintenance.
  • Demonstrated skill in application development utilizing Envision Basic; UniData paragraph development with Ellucian Colleague.
  • Well-developed critical thinking skills, ability to communicate both verbally and in writing with technical staff and customers.
  • Willingness and ability to support and promote the Felician Franciscan mission and core values of the University.
