School of Arts and Sciences Gets New Associate Dean

Dr. Sharon Towler has been named an Associate Dean of Academic Administration in the School of Arts and Sciences at Felician University. “I am excited about this new role because I will have the opportunity to work closely with undergraduate students that need academic support and guidance,” said Dr. Towler who added, “It will also present opportunities for me to create student success initiatives and academic programming to improve retention and graduation outcomes.”

Dr. Towler has been at Felician since 2017, serving as the Associate Dean and Assistant Professor for the School of Education. In 2018, she accepted the role of Director of Graduate Educational Leadership. She has extensive experience in building educational programs for at-risk students and in Urban Education administration, and has served as a faculty advisor for several Felician student organizations. In addition, she has more than ten years- experience in grant writing for urban initiatives success programs.

The South Carolina native earned her doctorate in Leadership in Educational Administration from Capella University, and her M.A. in Urban Education Administration from William Paterson University. Dr. Towler previously taught English Literature and Creative Writing in the Newark and Elizabeth New Jersey school districts. She welcomes working with the Arts and Sciences faculty, and the University staff to promote student success, career exploration, and overall academic experience at Felician University.

Dr. Towler believes that as with any new position there will be expected challenges, but is looking forward to creating and promoting equity for the learning experiences of all students and, “reassuring them that they have the support they need to achieve their academic and career path.”
