Assessing Stimulus Preferences in Infants
A study is underway at Felician University to assess whether infants who have older siblings with ASD may show a developmental milestone of preferring to look at visual stimuli that contain a certain amount of complexity.
About the Study
- This study will systematically assess the infants’ and young children’s responses to geographic shapes and pictures that vary in complexity. Additional assessment information will be collected using communication and developmental inventories.
- Infants and their parent will participate in an initial session that will take approximately 50 minutes. We would like to have you come back for similar visits every six months until your child reaches 24 months of age.
- In addition, young children with and without ASD between the ages of 2 to 3 years of age will only participate in one set of assessments. All sessions will occur at Felician University.
Participant Eligibility
- Younger siblings of children with ASD who are approximately 2 to 6 months of age.
- Children without ASD who are approximately 2 to 6 months of age.
- Children with and without ASD between the ages of 2 to 3 years old.
