Heritage Week Kicks Off with Lecture Presented by Sister Suzanne Marie Kuch, CSSF
Felician University commenced its annual Franciscan Felician Heritage Week on Monday with the Inaugural Lecture for the Blessed Mary Angela Institute for Contemplation, Action and Transformation. Sister Suzanne Marie Kush, CSSF presented the audience with a comprehensive overview of the Institute under the title, “The Blessed Mary Angela Institute: Contemplative Reflection and Dialogue”.
The presentation was followed by much discussion with both students and faculty. “I have been teaching Catholic Social Teaching for years and always felt there was something missing,” said Dr. Mara Kelly-Zukowski, Professor of Religious Studies. “Tonight you showed me that it’s not the teaching (encyclicals, pastoral letters, conciliar documents since 1891) that I should be teaching. It’s the ‘tradition’. Providing students with role models who throughout history lived CST is much more effective than studying documents. Thank you for showing me a better way to teach Sister Suzanne”.
Preceding the lecture the Advisory Council for the Institute met to discuss future endeavors.
