Dr. Rachel Rengifo is a licensed clinical psychologist and Assistant Professor at Felician University, PsyD in Counseling Psychology Program. She earned her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology. She completed her doctoral degree at the Derner Institute of Advanced Psychological Studies at Adelphi University and her APA-accredited predoctoral internship at North Central Bronx Hospital, where she worked with individuals experiencing chronic mental illness and urban trauma. She also holds an M.A. in Psychology from Long Island University–Brooklyn and a B.A. in Languages and Literature from Bard College, with a concentration in Creative Writing. Dr. Rengifo’s clinical and academic interests include psychological assessment, relational and attachment-based psychotherapy, trauma, anxiety, and women’s mental health. Her research interests include psychotherapy process and outcomes, parenting practices that promote healthy and safe social media and technology use among children and adolescents, and the psychological complexities of midlife in both women and men. She is also interested in perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, with a particular focus on the psychological and relational transitions associated with pregnancy, postpartum adjustment, and parenthood. Her advanced clinical training includes psychodynamic psychotherapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions (SPACE), perinatal mental health, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). She is an EMDRIA Certified EMDR Therapist and founder of The Mindful Path to Psychological Care, a private practice serving individuals and couples. Her clinical expertise and insights have been featured in Real Simple and Parade. Dr. Rengifo is deeply committed to training and mentoring future psychologists. From 2017 to 2020, she served as a core faculty member in the Doctorate in Counseling Psychology Program at Felician University. In 2020, she received the New Jersey Psychological Association’s Dr. Stanley Moldawsky Mentor Award for her mentorship of doctoral students and early-career psychologists. Her teaching emphasizes the integration of psychological theory, research, assessment, and clinical practice while supporting students in developing their identities as thoughtful, ethical, and compassionate psychologists.
